NETLINK TRUST BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH FIBRE INSTALLATION SERVICE CONTRACTOR

Awards contract to M1 to improve non-residential installation efficiencies and as part of ongoing initiative to foster collaboration with service providers

In a continuous drive to improve its service performance, NetLink Trust today announces the appointment of M1 Limited as its contractor to provide installation of fibre services. With this appointment, M1 has been given the opportunity to extend its services to its non-residential customers. This will enable NetLink Trust to broaden its resource and partner base which will translate into quicker service delivery.

As the neutral and independent owner and operator of Singapore’s core fibre infrastructure, NetLink Trust has worked closely with all Requesting Licensees (RLs) to bring the ultra-high speed connection to their residential and non-residential subscribers. The services include laying, installing, terminating and patching fibre as well as other necessary work to establish a fibre connection.

“NetLink Trust is committed to working with every partner and stakeholder to bring fibre broadband to every home and business in Singapore. NetLink Trust has been making progress and will continue to focus on delivering a positive end-user experience. This collaboration with M1 brings our close relationship with our partners to the next level,” said Mr Yap Chee Keong, Chairman of NetLink Trust.

Mr Ng Yong Hwee, CEO of NetLink Trust added, “We continue to focus on delivering high service levels. We believe that outsourcing a portion of our fibre installation works in the non-residential segment will further improve our service delivery. NetLink Trust will continue to be responsible for the fibre installation for all residential customers and the non-residential customers of the other RLs. In addition to this new initiative, we have collaborated with building management companies and owners of non-residential buildings to pre-install optic fibre cables. This enhances service delivery when orders come in.”

“The new arrangement will enhance our ability to deliver our innovative and cost-effective fibre services to the corporate segment. By reducing the number of intermediaries, M1 will be able to better manage the fibre provisioning process. For instance, we will be able to identify bottlenecks faster and work with our customer and relevant parties such as the building owner to promptly resolve the issue, thus delivering a better service experience to our customer,” said Mr Willis Sim, Director, Product Development and Corporate Sales of M1.

The appointment is the outcome of a standard tender evaluation process and will take effect on 1 May 2015. NetLink Trust may consider appointing more service providers.
