UPDATE ON FIBRE SERVICE DISRUPTION AFFECTING BISHAN AND THOMSON
NetLink Trust continues to respond to the fibre service disruption affecting broadband services in parts of Bishan and Thomson. Approximately 2,000 end-user connections are affected.
Our investigations have established that multiple NetLink fibre cables were damaged by a third-party contractor carrying out road widening works. The contractor was not engaged by NetLink Trust.
Our recovery teams remain on site and are working continuously to restore affected services. Service restoration has commenced, with affected connections being progressively restored.
Recovery efforts are being complicated by conditions at the damage site, including water ingress and obstructions that are limiting access to the underground cables. Despite these constraints, our teams are working continuously throughout the night to repair the damaged cables and progressively restore affected services as quickly and safely as possible.
Based on our current assessment, we are targeting to restore the remaining affected services by tomorrow morning. This timeline remains subject to change as recovery works progress and the full extent of the damage is confirmed.
We recognise the disruption this is causing to affected end users and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. We are working closely with the Internet Service Providers and relevant parties to expedite the restoration of affected services.
We will continue to provide updates on restoration progress.
